Mindful Self-Compassion for Anxiety Online Series
With Victoria Pawlowski M.Ed., R.C.C. and Dr. Kristy Williams MD
September 16 - October 21, 2024
Mindful Self-Compassion is a resource and a skill that can help improve our emotional well-being, improve our ability to cope with life’s challenges, lower levels of anxiety and depression, promote healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and lead to more satisfying personal relationships.
Cultivating self-compassion can fundamentally shift how we relate to ourselves and our anxiety. Instead of meeting challenges with self-blame and criticism, we can learn to care for ourselves as much as we would care for someone we love. We can learn to bring kind and mindful attention to our experiences (thoughts, emotions, and sensations) and a sense of love and care to ourselves, right amid difficult situations.
Research shows that mindfulness and self-compassion are resources that can reduce anxiety, depression, and stress while at the same time improving life satisfaction, relationships, and health habits.
The classes will not be recorded to protect confidentiality.
Commitment
Because we are committed to co-creating a safe and compassionate learning environment. To help create that environment attendance is required for the first session. If you cannot make the first session please let us know so we can offer your spot to someone on our waiting list. Each week builds on the learning of the learning of previous weeks and we ask that participants commit to attending at least 5 out of 6 sessions.
Note to BC residents
The program is covered under the BC Medical Services Plan and is offered to adult BC residents who provide us with their full name (as listed on MSP care), MSP number, and birthdate. A small non-refundable admin fee is charged. For those with a valid BC Medical Services Number, there will be an area in our registration form for you to enter your health number, birth date, and full name as it appears on your card. When you enter this information the cost of the program will be reduced to the admin fee only.
